Santa Claus sent an email this week, stating
he would be at the 2009 Rossville Down
Home Christmas Parade at 7 p.m. on
Thursday, and he’ll be loaded with candy.
The jovial gentleman disclosed that the
Ridgeland Rhythm of the Ridges and Gordon
Lee marching bands also would help to
headline the parade.
Walker County Commissioner Bebe Heiskell
and Rossville Mayor Johnny Baker are being
honored as grand marshals of the big
event. In addition, there are several
surprises to be revealed the night of the
parade.

The Rossville Downtown Development
Authority is reaching out to the more than
80 people who attended the Town Hall
Gathering on Nov. 12 for assistance.

The development authority is forming Organization,
Marketing, Design and Economic Development
groups to move forward with “A New Day in
Rossville: A Renaissance.” Those interested in
participating should go to rdda-rossville.com, click
the “Volunteer” button and select the group they wish
to join.
The Town Hall gathering has
excited Rossville citizens. according
to Downtown Development Authority
Chairman Ron Wade.
“It brought a new perspective that
there are enough people who care about Rossville

ROSSVILLE
The 2010 Rossville baseball/softball
tournament schedule begins on Feb. 19
with the second annual Mike Mullens
Memorial Classic.
Mr. Mullens was a Rossville High School graduate and an
avid youth sports coach who was shot to death in
December 2008 at his business in Flintstone.
The Mullens Memorial Classic kicks off a tournament
slate at Rossville City Park featuring nine youth baseball
and 11 youth softball tournaments. The games are
scheduled from Feb. 19 through Aug. 8.
Rossville is completing Old Timers Baseball Park. The
baseball field has a new grass infield, and an 8-foot-high
wooden fence is under construction. The new
dimensions will be 350 feet to dead centerfield and 333
